• Full Name: Ali Ibrahim Ali El-Haggar
• Born on April, 4th 1954, in Zenin, Guiza.
• Grew in an artistic medium, and was greatly influenced by his father, singer and composer Ibrahim El-Haggar, who taught him the basics and regulations of Arabic music, starting from his early childhood.
• He learned to recite the holy Quran, which influenced his intonation and breathing, which are two essential elements for any successful singer.
• In addition to music and singing, El-Haggar has another talent; drawing. This talent helped him join the Faculty of fine arts.
• In 1977, he was discovered by late musician Baleegh Hamdy, so he composed his first song “Ala Ad Ma Habeina”, written by poet Abdel Reheem Mansour.
• Another phase of his artistic journey began upon meeting the multi-talented artist Salah Jaheen, who offered him the opportunity to sing all of his Rubaiyat (Quatrains), which were composed by the late Sayed Mikkawi.
• Ali El-Haggar managed to change the style of the TV serials’ trailers from musical pieces without any singing into short songs that have some glimpses of the serial at hand. This started with El-Haggar’s singing of all the songs featured in the serial “Al-Ayam”, which tackles the life of the Dean of Arabic literature, Taha Hussein. The songs were written by poet Sayed Higab and composed by Ammar El-Shereiy. Ever since then, the idea of singing the trailers of serials has been implemented. So, Ali El-Haggar became the number one nominee for this kind of songs, owing to his dramatic vocal abilities.
• Sang many songs composed by his brother, singer and composer Ahmad El-Haggar, like “Ozoreeny”, “Bahebek Ana”, “Beeky Ya Samra Akoun”, “El-Ahlam”, “Kont Faker”, “Tesaaleeny”, “Lama El-Shetta Yedoa El-Beban”, “Matekdebeesh”, “Ergaaily”, “Lessa El-Kalam” and “We Akheeran Ya Masreya”
• Sang several political songs like “Lemm El-Shaml”, his masterpiece “Hona Al-Qahira”, “Ya Masry” and “El-Moat Ala El-Asphalt”, which are a group of poems written by renowned poet Abdel Rahman El-Abnoudi depicting the inhumane massacres happening at the Palestinian territories. El-Haggar also sang “Lebanon” after the Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006.
• Sang a duet with International operatic tenor, the Spanish Plácido Domingo, known as “King of Opera” in 2000.
• Ali El-Haggar was honored by The 15th Arabic Music Festival in 2006, with life time achievement award. In the same year, he was awarded twice by two theatrical festivals in Italy and Germany.
• El-Haggar was also granted “Best Male Singer Award” in 2006 from Sharm El-Sheikh Video Clip Festival, for his song “El-Leil Ya Nass”.
• El-Haggar was officially approved by Al-Azhar as a Reciter for the holy Quran, and hence became the first Egyptian singer to acquire such an honor.
